Let’s get the important bits out of the way first! I have qualifications in Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Addiction and Counselling Supervision. I am a fully accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. With 20 years’ experience I work with people from the age of 12 upward. I used to lecture in PCI College and was Programme Leader for the Professional Certificate in CBT.
Now to get to know me a little! I Absolutely love my work and am really passionate about accompanying someone through their therapeutic experience. I strive not to judge, but only understand what is happening for the person in the context of present and past experiences. Making sense of things and developing a foundation of understanding provides a scaffold from which the appropriate interventions can be selected. Goal setting and a treatment plan follow.
The type of therapy I offer (definitely a strong CBT influence, among other approaches) is engaging, collaborative and interactive. Ultimately meeting someone where they are at, helping them become aware and understand themselves and choosing therapeutic interventions that promote insight, growth and change with the skills required to break historical cycles, allows a person to become their own therapist in time!
My therapy focuses on supporting and helping a person change the relationship they have with themselves, allowing them to create their own internal support system to help deal with presenting issues and future life challenges.
I own and run Mindology Wellness Hub. I have always worked in Private Practice and therefore am used to working with a wide variety of issues. I have also gained extensive experience working with OCD over the years and have developed a special interest in this.
I live in Kildare and have four children. I am constantly engaging in some form of personal development or self-care! I love being outdoors and staying strong and healthy. To me, connection is my currency and through connection amazing things can happen!
