Counsellor & Psychotherapist Adults
MSc. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
BSc. Hons. Counselling & Psychotherapy
Professional Certificate in Working with Trauma
I am an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. I hold a Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a Hons. Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy. Prior to my training I worked as a volunteer for Women’s Aid for three years and for The Samaritans for seven years. These invaluable opportunities equipped me with the necessary experience and insight to facilitate my pursuit of psychotherapy and counselling.
If you are feeling overwhelmed and certain life issues are becoming too difficult to manage, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space to talk, explore and learn valuable skills to manage these concerns. I am a firm believer in the significance of collaborating with my clients to review their options, assist them in identifying their own voice, and help them live the life they aspire to. We all deserve to live a fulfilled life according to our individual needs and I see the therapeutic space as a wonderful opportunity to work on those needs.
My therapeutic approach is humanistic, working towards building an empathic and supportive relationship with my client. I am of the opinion that each individual possesses the answers they need, and I will collaborate with you to determine the essential steps required to realise your full potential.
“When someone really hears you without passing judgement, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mould you, it feels damn good.” (Carl Rogers).
In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy the therapist and client work together towards understanding difficulties in terms of the relationship between thoughts, feelings, body responses and behaviours. CBT helps clients break the vicious cycle of negative and unhelpful thinking and behaviour. I will work with you to increase your awareness of self and to learn better and more useful ways of thinking and coping.
“We can learn to control our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours so they no longer control us” (Aaron T. Beck).
I have experience of working with many issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, women’s issues, stress, trauma and many more. In the past year I have done much research into the area of Women In Menopause and I hope to continue to expand my work and knowledge in this area. I understand the impact the psychological issues have on both the physical symptoms and the daily struggle trying to cope.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any inquiries. I am available to provide assistance and address your concerns at this time.
